Being a guy who used to own an old European car I'll give you this advice. (1) Avoid tragedy and hours if not days of grime and intense labor and read everything you can about your car. Don't be like me  saying "Oh I know how that works now!... To bad I broke it....." (2) Don't cheap out even though its old it was made as a luxury car so don't be like me on "Hmmm, the Bosch is 60 bucks, but the Autolite is 20!!!" and have it broke two weeks later. That's me in my old 82 Mercedes 300SD. I didn't know much about cars back then when I bought it and even less about diesels! (but now I do   ) I like old European cars they have this thing to them.... I can't tell what but its there.
